Astrophytum myriostigma, or Bishop's Cap Cactus, is a distinctive spineless cactus from northeastern Mexico. It features a star-shaped body adorned with white scales, resembling stars against a green sky. This plant thrives in sunny conditions with well-drained soil, requiring minimal watering. During the growing season, water only when the soil is completely dry, and provide a sandy or gravelly substrate to promote good drainage. Blooming in summer with bright yellow flowers, it adds a striking display to any cactus collection.

  • Secure with fishing line or plant-safe wire until established
Watering

Proper watering is crucial:

  • Soak the root ball and shield fronds thoroughly when the moss feels dry
  • Allow excess water to drain completely
